一、第二十一讲题目：Educating Renaissance Humans in the Age of Collective Intelligence（群体智慧时代对文艺复兴人类的教育）

English Abstract:

The scholastic ideal in Renaissance was to educate man to become a master of all disciplines. Our current education system teaches too much conventional thinking, and not enough creativity and innovation. In fact, we are doing an exceptional job in killing creativity of young students. To become successful Renaissance Humans, we need a new type of curriculum, one that does not teach what is the capital of Kazakhstan, but one that teaches how to find new solutions to new problems, where to find what, and whom to trust. Most importantly, this curriculum also needs to teach how to innovate and collaborate with others over the Internet, crossing barriers of language, geography, and culture. This is where the framework of Collaborative Innovation Networks (COINs) comes in, which takes first steps towards developing such a curriculum educating renaissance humans.

This talk will introduce the COINs course which has been taught for the last 12 years as an anti-MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) to students forming virtual teams participating from places like Changchun, Bamberg, Boston, Savannah, Helsinki, Cologne, Rome, Seoul, or Chile, with majors in business, education, design, computer science, or sociology etc. In this course students use and analyze social media to answer complex questions impacting society. Questions discussed in this talk are:

- What are the skills that are most important for Renaissance Humans?

- What matters more: collaborative competition (model“topcoder”, i.e. online competitions) or competitive collaboration (model “stackoverflow”, i.e. collaborative problem solving)?

- How can such an environment be made to scale?

- How can we better make use of the transactive memory available at our fingertips by connecting with likeminded people to solve humanity’s large problems?

文艺复兴时期的教育理念是教育我们要做所有知识的主人。目前，我们的教育体制中包含太多默守陈规的思想，创造力和创新力明显不足。实际上，我们老师正在从事一份抹杀年轻学生创造能力的特殊工作。要成为成功的文艺复兴人类，我们需要一门新的课程，这门课程不是告诉学生哈萨克斯坦的首都在哪里，而是教会学生如何用全新的方法来解决全新的问题？到什么地方探寻问题的答案？谁才是值得信任的人？最重要的是，这门课程还需要教会学生如何通过互联网跨越语言、地理和文化的障碍，实现创新与合作。协作创新网络（COINs）课程正是基于这样的框架，并迈出了教育学生成为文艺复兴时期人类新理念的第一步。

在本次报告中我将和大家分享12年的教学经验。协作创新网络课程作为反大规模开放式在线课程(Anti-MOOC)，让来自不同国家和地区的学生组成虚拟团队，这些学生来自长春，班贝格，波士顿，萨凡纳，赫尔辛基，科隆，罗马，首尔，智利，苏黎世等地。这些学生的专业包括商学，教育，设计，计算机，社会学等。在这门课程中，学生通过使用和研究社交媒体来解答影响社会的复杂问题。本报告包括以下几方面的经验分享：

-文艺复兴时代的人类最重要的技能是什么？

-合作竞争还是竞争合作，哪个更重要？

-这样的环境如何才能规模化？

-如何更好地利用我们的指尖与同类人交流，并利用交互式记忆来解决我们的难题？

三、主讲人：Peter A.Gloor

Peter Gloor教授为麻省理工学院斯隆商学院研究型科学家。他将自己的学术成果应用到实践，并成立galaxyadvisors公司。他主要研究社会关系网络的分布，用社会关系网络的研究方法解决多个学科的问题。同时，Peter Gloor教授在瑞士GDI研究所、德国科隆大学、芬兰阿尔托大学、智利康赛普西翁大学等国际知名大学均具有亲密的合作关系并兼任学术职位。目前发表专著8本，论文总数近170篇，其中期刊论文占50余篇。他的观点曾被《华尔街》，《自然》，《科学新闻》，BBC，华盛顿邮报，麻省理工学院科技评论，瑞士电视台，奥地利电视台等多家媒体采访和引用。
